Custom Mains Cable

HI

I would like to know if it is possible to make my own mains cable extension socket.

What I have in mind is to have each socket as an individual, so we have one scoket and then 30 cm of flex between each of them till the 12 socket.
Would this possible?

I would like to use metal clad sockets and attach them on my cabinet as in the picture attached, its a rough sketch of how they will be placed. Flex running from in the direction of the arrows

I am not a an electrician, and was hoping the forum could help me achieve this.

Please let me know the best way to do this, thanks :D

Well, it's certainly possible, but quite why you would want to do it is another matter...

Presumably these are going to be visible, hence the metal-clad sockets? All you really need to keep in mind is that the total load supplied by all 12 sockets will be limited to the rating of the single socket that feeds them (13A).

My concern is that since you've had to ask, you may be lacking some basic electrical knowledge that I'm assuming you have. Please don't take any risks.

Personally, I just daisy-chain trailing extension sockets until I have enough outlets (though I have just extended my domestic ring-main to reduce the need to do this).

Thanks for your reply. The reason I am doing it this way is to make the back end tidy and neat, silly cat wanders off around the back, and would like to use shorter mains cables to each socket
