    Hi,
I apologise in advanse if this is posted in the wrong place.(please move as needed)

i went into currys today (to kill time) and i think i have a good deal on a Hitachi 42" 1024x768( didnt get model because of following info) the screen with speakers/stand/tuner is £1500, BUT after chatting to the sales rep who was very knowledgeable (for a change) he advised me to wait until tomorrow (13th Nov) as currys were starting a 25% off on Plasma's and flat screen tv's,(combating Argos's 20% offer) so advised me to go back tomorrow after id had a think about the screen and if i decided yes i would also gain from the extra 25% off.(hes put the screen on hold for me until tomorrow 12pm)

i just thought id let you guys know incase its helpful to anyone.

Hi there i was in the new Currys store at whitecity in manchester and i asked about price matching. The guy in the store said not a problem as long as who ever it is has a shop. So if you can get a price match and then 25% off that would be good. just a thought.

Just to confirm ,This is deffinately a HITACHI screen not Hyundai or Lg.

I am deffinately going back tomorrow to get this, i dont see why the salesman would have told me to come back tomorrow unless he was genuine, he gains nothing by telling me of this, he said he was almost positive it applied to all LCD and plasma's. (again this was to combat Argos who were offering a 20% discount) i dont know if this was local or national, ( i was in the Bangor North Wales store)
and if for some reason it doesnt, i havent lost anything.
ill have do to research now on how best to connect this to sky :)

This looks promising - I hope it's on-line as well as in store.
If you have an Egg credit card you can also get an additional 10% off at Currys for the month of November - just go to

    www.egg.com/cashback

and follow the link from there.

There is no obligation on them to do so. Distance selling regs for on-line purchases is a possible escape route.

Popped into Currys in Chadwell Heath.

No discounts on plasmas. They were willing to price match in a 10 mile radius though.

OK guys, seems salesman had wrong info, its 25% off widescreen crts, so i am sorry if i got hopes up but i was given that info and it was the reason i went back to get my screen today, he said he thought it was a national offer anyway.
    btw for £1599 i got a HITACHI 42PD3000E.

    good price i think.

any info /tips you could chuck my way with regards to setup/picture quality/signal etc i would be very gratefull.

and once again sorry for the slightly off info.

    1st impressions =very very good,

gonna need to upgrade my Sony dvd player and seperate amp though , as i now have 5 units under TV which is driving me mad, plus the dvd player and amp are 3-4 yrs old , id like a all in 1 home cinema, but the ones i have seen dont allow for my monster cables to be connected to the speakers, they all seem to be square connectors not the clip/grab ones, but i suppose that a question for the home cinema forum.

off to watch GB v Australia rugby league now :D

Isn't the 42PD3000e an old model? I though it had been replaced by the 42PD5xxx's.

PD3000 has not been seen in distribution for a while, Elvis, you used to own one I believe? Bearing in mind it's been out of production a while, the price is fair rather than mind boggling, but hey, that's a move in the right direction.
Userper, try Jamo for an all in one, or possibly JVC at richer sounds, those 2 are good value, and the Jamo is without speakers (can only be a good thing, supplied ate total c**P with every all in one I've ever heard) and I assume you have some already.

    Hi,
No i used to have jamo speakers but they were quite big, the speakers with my sony TA-VE170 amp are the ones that came with it, my dvd player is a S536D. They seem to handle the sound well enough for my ears. BUT i suppose i would like something alittle better quality wise.Again i wish for a dvd/amp all in one.

Hi newbie here - have just bought a Panasonic 42inch Viera from Currys at Merry Hill, well paid for it, just have to wait patiently for it to be delivered.

Hope they are true to their word in delivering it with in the next two weeks.

They did match the their internet price of £2499, may have been able to get a slightly better deal in one or two palaces but I wanted to get one from nearby in-case of any problems, just never spent so much money and walked out of a shop without taking anything with me.

Salesman was pretty good as well fixed up a DVD player let me try diffrent DVD's etc.
