Hey, Last weekend I went down to Currys to play with their current plasma range. Went down to the Brentford store (on the A4) and started to test their range of plasma TV's. I was greeted by this young chap and was asked if I needed any assistance. Well we all know what Currys staff are like, they are not fully trained and do not really know much about Plasma technology and high definition technology. Anyway, knowing this I decided to test him on his knowledge of PDP and HD technology. I only really know the basics, but enough to know when im being told fibs! Anyway to cut a long story short, I was simply amazed. This guy knew soooo much about PDP and HD. Even tho Currys do not have the PV50 or PV500 in stock, he went on to tell me about what each manufacturer will be bringing out and advised me to wait for a few weeks until Panasonic release the PV500. This bloke even started telling me about how pixel technology works and how this varies between manufacturers. Usually sales staff are pushy and are eager for a sale, but this bloke was totally the opposite. He started off by asking me the size of my room, my budget and the type of programs I watch. He then went on to show me each plasma one by one and talked through their pros and cons. Thanks to him, I fully understand HDMI, HDCP, DVI, 720p, 1080i!! He even gave me a demo of HD on the Sagem DLP to demonstrate future profoofing, but also said that HD will come at a cost and may not kick-in for another good few years, but film content will be available soon. He suggested that I read up about HD broadcast in the UK first before making my mind up about which screen I was going to buy. Sound advice!! What I liked was that he refused to sell me a plasma until I was 100% happy and knew exactly what I was getting for my £££. I walked out of the store with double the knowledge from when i first walked into the store. I hope all Currys stores had staff like him!!!
