Sorry to hear that about your Tosh (very unusual)

But this just reiterates what louzy customer service (and product knowledge) these big boys have.

I shop 90% online all the time (with independent retailers and specialists), and am amazed how they bend over backwards to help.

I agree that Currys are pretty useless once they have your money, but I would say that is true of most online retailers as well. Unless you get in there quickly with a fault most will want to get a TV repaired rather than exchanged. Also the manufacture is not going to be much use unless you purchased it directly from them. They will just refer you back to the shop and then the battle begins.

I would love to know what retailers online are regarded as reliable and helpful. In most case people regard a good retailer as a company they bought a product with no faults. In that case you will never know how good they are.

Two good examples of good online customer service:-

(i) when i bought my PW7 it had a stuck pixel, emailed Jack In The Box, and another PW7 came my way

(ii) i bought a sony DVD recorder from Digital Direct. When it came it was not multiregion as advertised. Quick phone call and a new one came.

Maybe I have been lucky, but I too was sceptical
