Costs too much IMO.
£35 for the normal edition? Why is that too much? That's normal PC game prices (which vary between £29.99-£34.99 usually?). Of course when it all finally comes out, you'll be able to buy discounted packages in Game etc...it's just if you want it all now that you have to pay full whack
I can buy it now from CD-WOW for £27 and they don't have to pay for CDs, manual, shipping, etc. Why the hell should it be more over steam!?
Looks quite interesting that the silver package contains the original Half Life but updated with the source engine, that would be awesome!
So is Counter Strike source worth getting? Is it exactly the same as the original CS but prettier?
They're shipping now?
No and it's less than £27, the US CD Wow has it for $40.95.
What are you complaining about then? Any game you buy direct will ALWAYS cost top dollar, HL2 is no different imho... (and when it hits the shelves of UK stores they won't discount it to start with ).
CD-Wow's is a nice price though, think I'll wait as I have the COD expansion, Rome Total War, PES4 and Burnout 3 to play first
BTW we are going to be hit with $8.74 VAT on top of the $49.99.
Screw them, I'll wait.
JUst tried to purchase the pre-order over steam.
Suprisingly it wouldn't work
Just kept coming up with "Mysql failed: too many connections" i'll bet
For those wanting the gold package:
Buy it from there. Im getting an error though "specified subscription is invalid"
Sod it I have no willpower
"I luve GOLD!!!!" as Goldmember once said. Just splashed out on said package.
Spent 5 mins just blasting a barrel about with a shotgun, great fun.
I just bought the GOLD edition! Cant wait to get all those goodies!!
Do we know wehn the game will be made available yet? And when will we get it in the UK?
Noboady has confirmed any date yet. But now that the game is actualy availabel to buy, it cant be much longer.
I imagine its going to be in November or December. The only way its going to be delayed again is if the court case with vivendi drags on and HL2 becomes one of the victims.
Even so, you can enjoy CS Source now, and all other Valve/Steam games available.
There is no fooking way I am going to give these guys my money now, knowing how bad they have been with release dates up to now. They will probably make millions of dollars in interest on everyones pre-order money lol.
I still can't wait to play this though.
Well the silver package only cost me $12 from steam as I had a coupon from ati which paid for a bronze pack.
Been playing CSS and its pretty sweet , nice and quick on my 9800XT with evrrything on high and little AA 70fps at 1024x768.
I was all set to buy the Silver Pack yesterday then I realised I dont know what spec Counter Strike: Source needs, no point in me buying it if its not going to run well on my system so I was wondering, does anyone know the spec needed?
actually scratch that its running at 1280x1024
Check the Steam forums for any problems or queries.
I'm doing fine on a 2.4 P4 with 1Gb PC2700 and a radeon 9800XT 256M.
I have an 800FSB mobo waiting to be swapped in when I can be bothered rebuilding the PC.
i went for the gold edition aswell My m8 bought it for me, so its not costing me anything tbh. It looks a great pack!!
CS: Source is really good, and i can't wait for HL2!!
I presume there is no way of playing CS-Source in the mean time whist I wait for HL2 to be released in the UK (I have preordered on Amazon for £25.99 by the way).
I was plying the BETEA since I have CS-CZero but they updated steam and it's back to just CS again !!
If you buy one of the Steam packages, you can already play CS Source Full version.
But if you bought a retail version you gonna have to wait for the Disk to arrive. You could cancel the retail version and buy it on steam now!
As for specs, Anything above a Radeon 9800 or Nvidia 5900 will do just fine with high settings.
CPU wise, a 64 bit Athlon or a P4 2.6 or above will also be enough. As for memory, I recomend 1 gig. PC3200/2700
My PC is currently using over 600mb, so I doubt 512 is enough anymore.
If you have 512 or less, then I would immagine thats becoming your bottleneck.
My spec is...
AMD Athlon XP 2800+
1024MB DDR RAM
128Mb ATi Radeon 9700
Think CS:S will be any good on that?
I have a XP2200+, 512Mb and 9800 Pro and I run it at 1280x960 at about 60 FPS, so yes that spec should be fine
CDWOW have import taxes on anything over 18 pounds so half life 2 would probably cost around the 35 pound mark anyway.
CDWow used to have import taves on anything over £18, for a few months now, anything over £18 is first shipped to somewhere in Europe and then shipped to you so you wont get charged any customs.
