Are you getting one John ?

I've got my name down on a black VPS3800 but am still a little unsure if it's the right thing to do at the moment.

    Cheers, Lee

I'm a bit twitchy about it myself, but given the alternatives of,

    VantageHD - no 1080p 24/25, 48/50 or 72/75Hz out from 3:2/2:2 pull down sources
VP30 with ABT 102 upgrade - still only bob deinterlace on HD
VP40 - I would wait but ABT don't appear to have all underlying tech in place yet (see comments from their own tech guys on VP30 thread over on avsforum), so who knows when we'll see this
Lumagen Radiance - Pricey, still only vague indication of release sometime in H2
Dragonfly - Must be close, but not aware of a final release date
Current gen Lumagens etc - I'll never be happy with the video mode deinterlacing

Basically I'm bored with waiting around so I'm likely to take the plunge on the Crystalio II, probably placing an order for a 3300 this week, can always cancle if anything unplesant comes ot light in the next couple of weeks.

A nice round up of the current options there John.

Do you not see the extra features of the 3800 worth the extra dosh ?

What display do you have if you don't mind me asking ?

    Cheers, Lee

Quite fancy the time base correction and the media player features, but to be honest I'm worried about sticking all my eggs in one basket so have to decided to just go for the basic unit.

Edit: I'm running sony ruby onto a 100inch screen.

    Cheers,
    John.

That's a bit more forthcoming than they have been lately.

I didn't notice whether anyone had flagged up the long-awaited release date:

I'm sorry to sat I haven't. Henry's getting his fourth production build unit this week. Am very tempted to make that trip up to Norfolk but am currently right in the middle of a house move (like literally, right now where I'm sitting people are moving boxes around). Thanks to the wonders of lawyers I've got to live in temporary digs for 10 days while the chain sorts itself back out. Playing with cool new toys (while still very much in the front of my mind!) is not something I have the time for just now.

Hmm, link worked when I originally posted it, something must have gotten shuffled on the pixel magic forum, no matter though!

Seem to be living in exciting times at the mo, what with raft of new vid processors, shy HD, 1080 dlp's starting to materialise...

Yes - sometimes a bit too exciting (delays, format wars, delays, hardware conflicts, delays)
    :D

I should be one of the first...though not from the first batch to arrive which I understand to be pretty small but due in this week...I'm eleventh on the pre-order list with Henry @ CRT Projectors.

You after the 3300 or 3800? When I spoke to CRT the week before last they still had 3300's from the first batch available if I remember correctly.

It's a black 3800 that I'm after...last I heard from Henry was that the first batch was due this week.
