When is the Crystalio II to be released and how is it compared to Lumagen Pro? I just don't like the service lumagen.com is providing and would love to get something different that is on par with the Lumagen's Pro unit?!

    Thanks,
    Bob.

I bought the current Crystalio over the Lumagen pro, and I think the Crystalio II will be a fair bit better than the mark I.
But I bet it is over a grand more.

But they are saying it is still a good couple of months away, so there will probably be a new Lumagen annouced by then anyway.

    Bob,

What problem do you have with the service Lumagen and I provide to the UK?

In my experience the Lumagen customer service has never been anything less than utterly superb. In fact, it is easily the best I have ever encountered.

I have to agree, having Gordon on hand made choosing the Crystalio over the Lumagen a very dificult choice for me. I can't see how anyone could say that Lumagens service was anything other than spot on?

Trevor: Forum sponsors and dealers are not allowed to post pricing on the forum. The price on Liam's site is srp. I'd call him for better pricing.

I am extremely pleased with my Crystalio, I would go as far to say that it is the most satisfying bit of AV kit I have ever bought.

Adding a scaler is the difference bewteen the picture looking right and not, it was worth the money in the fact I am no longer adjusting settings depening on the source material, it always looks good.

danny daniell and Canoehq popped over last night as they wanted to hear the Cinepro, they both saw my set up and I think they were both pretty impressed with the image, showed them 1080i i-Robot on D-Theater and then from DVD upscaled, as well as Sky.
Maybe worth asking them what they thought for an unbiased opinion?
Danny owns the Pioneer XDE so he is not a Panasonic fan that will give a biased opinion.

sounds nice , how much did you pay and are you running it on PWD7 ?

there knocking those screens out at richer sounds for £1000.00 (sorry am i alowed to mention this im not sure  ) im going to have a look at one tommorrow but im not sure if i should wait for a PWD8

i noticed that the PWD8 can accept the new SKYHD but if i was to get a scaler would this be irrelevant ? i mean would i be able to veiw skyhd and xbox 360 HD on a PWD7 with a scaler

ive also noticed a DVDO iscan HD+ scaler what are these like got great reviews in home cinema mag

sorry im new to plasmas , with CRT , RGB and so on im fine but all this plasma LCD stuff is quite mind bending

also are you a member over at NTSC.com ? the advatar looks familiar

    cheers
    Trev

yeah been on ntsc-uk for far too long now!
Another hobby that seems to gobble all my income :)

I am using it on an HD6.

    What is your overall budget?

You may be better to get say and HD8 and a Lumagen dvi scaler for the same price as a PW8 and a Crystalio.

It`s all true! Guy`s setup is utterly fantastic! easily the best pq i have ever seen on Sky.....comparable to good DVD & that`s no exaggeration. Anyone contemplating a quality scaler but concerned as to whether it makes THAT much difference? Go get a demo but dont forget yer credit card! In conjunction with the SDI modded Sky + box pq just sublime....crisp/great depth of field/ lack of artifacts...almost like HD is already here!
Thanks for the dem Guy...total revelation :)

Completely agree with all of the above. Made even better by having someone demonstrating who clearly understands their equipment inside out and how to match it all together perfectly around a fantastic scaler. Thanks Guy, a pleasure.

Dan......sorry about the football mate, but you knew it wasn't going to happen though, didn't you ?

I am glad you liked it, you are never sure what people are thinking when you show them, and although I can still remeber being blown away when I put a scaler back in my system, you sort of become used to it and not sure if people will think it is that much of an improvement.

It is difficult to describe to people what a scaler really adds, but it is so much more than just better deinterlacing and scaling.
It must drive Gordon mad when people ask if it will make much difference, being a distributer I am sure sometimes he feels like shouting "Don't be so stupid, of course it bloody will!" I think he shows serious restraint! :)

My Crystallio has already made me reconsider changing my projector

And it isn't even set up properly yet!

Seriously wondering ALREADY if it's worth chnging to Crystalio II instead of I rather than upgrade the pj and/or amp to get HDMI/DVI switching reqd over the next year or so.

Be a very interesting side by side comparison...

Ps Giz- how did you get those pics so big?
