who knows what the future will bring

Not even sure the PS3 or 360 is powerful enough to run this.

What a crock of ****! The developer has already quoted that this game runs no problems at all on PS3 and 360. At the moment though, they are purely concentrating on the PC release.

Steady on! I for one would be surprised is a perfect conversion could be re-produced on either the PS3 or Xbox360, the physics engine alone is out of this world and leagues ahead of anything we have seen currently on consoles.

i saw an interview with the developer on i think gamer.tv - they said at that time that this was a pc exclusive but that they were working on a project for a ps3 title using the crysis engine.

Might have changed in the meantime but not that i've heard

Crytek had apparently taken out an ad for PS3 developers some time ago, what this can lead to is anyone's guess.

Will this game run as well on a CoreQuadXtreme with 2 x SLI Nvidia 1GB 8800's or such rot, probably not. But will it look good based on the current output of consoles, probably indeed! Or at least I hope!

I'm pretty sure that I read or watched an interview with the lead guys on Crysis and I remember them mentioning that Crysis itself won't be coming to consoles, however the Crytek engine will be, so i'm looking forward to those games soon!

I think my pc will run Crysis pretty well, (AMD X2 4600+, 2GB ram, 2x nVidia 7800GT .... opinions?) so i'm not too bothered if it shows up on the PS3 or not! But the engine on future games would be fantastic!

Looks possible that a console version of Crysis may be on the cards dependent on "sales". The developer said that if Crysis does make it onto a console it will be "a version of Crysis" rather than a straight port. Linky

It looks like Cervat Yerli can't seem to make his mind up. Contrary to that report in the 26th September edition of the Games For Windows podcast there was an interview with him. In that he clearly states that Crytech has a purely PC culture, PC games is what they specialise in and do best and they are going to stick with making just PC games. Having said that I guess there is always the option that they could get another development house to do the console version.

I suspect the lure of the filthy dollar is too much to resist when you are spending that much time and money developing a game, there must be some pressure to maximise the return.

I wouldn't be surprised if EA had something to do with it considering their strong multi platform business model. They probably want Crytech to agree to a PS3, 360, Wi, DS and PSP version. ;) :D

In all fairness, given the PC specs for a mid range PC outclass both PS3 and X-Box and Crysis by all reports doesn't run that great on those, would suggest that the PS3 and X-Box engine would need significant changes to accomodate the game.

I am sure the engine will run, but the detail levels will be a lot lower.

On a top end PC, there is no way the PS3 or XBox could match it.

I think the guy in the link I posted stated that it would not run "as is" but that any console release would a "version" of Cryisis rather than port.

Those people interested in the game should listen to that podcast as the interview is pretty good. He goes into the scalability of the game, the A.I., why they sold the rights to Far Cry and didn't do the sequel etc.

If you take what he says at face value then I wish them luck in recouping all the developement costs let alone getting into profit if it does indeed need DX10 as their potential market will be pretty small atm.

I doubt revenue is going to be a problem as the game is very scalable and will run pretty well even on DX9 hardware. Infact it was initially demonstrated on DX9 hardware and a lot of people were amazed at how great it looked.

Which is why there is no reason they couldn't do a perfectly acceptable version on the PS3 and 360 which makes the first paragraph of that link total nonesense

'Some news slipped out during the Leipzig convention in Germany that Crytek senior game designer Bernd Diemer said their upcoming first-person shooter Crysis was too über for the next-generation consoles -- the 360 and PlayStation 3 specifically. The heart of the matter related directly to DirectX 10 and it being the only way to truly unleash the beast behind this beautiful game.'

I have totally given up on believing anything anyone says in the gaming media, you can't believe a word of it

I agree you have to take anything you read with a pinch of salt. My comment was going by an interview with Cervat Yerli last week by the Games For Windows magazine guys. I'm sure it can be done on the consoles. Sure it wouldn't look as good as on the latest PC hardware supporting DX10 but it would still look pretty good.

Yes but how much more profit would they make by selling it a £40 quid a pop for a scaled down version on 360 and Ps3 (and DS :D)?

I personally think if they waited a couple of years and then released it, it would look pretty good on the PC. It gives the devs time to proper get to grips with the hardware and do a good port!

I cant wait to see what crysis will look like on my pc rig!!:smashin:
