Crunch Time...

    ok. It's time for me to deciede on what av reciever I'm gonna get. Since I live in Iceland I don't have as many choices as you folks in the UK or elsewhere. Also, electronics are way more expensive here than, say, in the rest of Europe because of shipping.
    PS: I don't have the opion of demoing these two...

    Ok the choice for me now is between these two amps:

    The Sony STR-DB790 (which I can get alot cheaper than the)

    Pioneer VXS-812

    Now If you had to choose and the price difference would be the worth of a good NAD cd player, which one would you choose?

    Anybody had any experience with the Sony or the Pio? Please help me, I am lost.

    im using the pio 812 and it is terrific.. im sure other owners will also agree :D

    If you are interested in cd replay too, I suggest the Pioneer too. The Sony is pretty poor in stereo, using it's own DAC's via digital or the Nad's DAC's via analogue. The Pioneer is hardly a stereo champion, but the Sony is far too bright and bass-light IMO.

    I have a seperate system for hi-fi listening. This amp would be only for home cinema...
