Does any one know which projectors have problems when macrovision isn't disabled.
Best to check with manufacturer but I know of a client with a Seleco320 that has issues with macrovision. Doesn't make image unwatchable or anything but does affect the AKB line at top of image...
Most are up to speed with macrovison in its standard form I doubt you would have a problem on a CRT younger than 8years.
I have had quite a few problems with a combination of progressive scan and RCE disks recently.
I am rapidly becoming unimpressed with progressive scan anyway. Give me a standard component feed and a decent scaller.
Do you mean Prog Scan dvd players like the denon et al?
Is it down to cost-cutting do you think? Or a particular component
I was having problems with the progressive scan picture on my Pioneer 737 through my Barco 708mm until I had the macrovision diabled. The picture brightness was going up and down in a 30 second cycle. The picture now is very good.
When watching region 2 discs the macrovision caused no problems, it was only with progressive scan.
When you get your DVD player mutiregioned (allegedly it possible to do this ) make sure that the Macro vision is disabled.some of the earlier mods did not work properly and on RCE (Region Code Enhanced) disks will play havock with the ABL (automatic black level).
Essentailly what you are asking the projector to do is HDTV but with funny sync signals and they can get very confused.
