My dad has a Sony VPH-1031Q at his house and the blue CRT tube is dirty. There is some type of white film on the inside of the lense it looks like. Is there a way to clean these? It looks like there is some type of liquid there by the lense. Is there a way to clean these or do we need a new one? Can you find them out there?

    Thanks

Sounds like you've got a fungus problem with the tube, check out the above link and there is a guide on how to remove fungus.

    Hope this helps......

    Cheers

The blue tube is directly above the EHT quadrupler on most sony projectors which makes them very prone to fine dust being attached to the lens and tube surfaces. Take the lense off and clean it with a 50/50 mix of distiled water and pure alcohol with ONE drop of washing up liquid per litre. Use a soft brush first to get rid of the crap then the above mixture with lens cloth or tissue.
