well, i have a barco 801s that i paid a grand for. the image it produces is just like a TV image only much larger. its sharp enough to be a digital photograph projector too. yes you need a line doubler too for video sources, i have an iscan pro which i got for £500. and you shouldnt skimp on the screen.. my 7ft 16:9 1.2 was about £500.

a CRT PJ isnt small. mine is just short of a metre in length and 40 cms tall. a decent coffee table will cover it for a floor install. minimum throw distance for a 7ft screen is about 10 feet or so from the front of the PJ. so you can see how large your room needs to be.

i dont think any LCD is worth buying for home cinema unless you have a room that just cannot accomodate a CRT PJ. LCDs just dont do black or have anything like TV quality images.

Check out my website linked in my sig.

    Lots of stuff there.

Also, try going back over time in this forum. The CRT forum is not that busy and these newbie questions come up every so often.
