Ok, ok decided on CRT CLUB for the main title to reflect its content, but lets refer to it here on in as 'video club'.

Now where was I? ah yes Nick, Modifications and many of them are afoot, cant give too much away but there are the five main boards in the Marquee (less back plane) lets just say on three boards alone the component upgrades run to 73.

This leaves the focus and Deflection boards, high and low Voltage power supplies and re-location of a couple of critical parts etc, some will be very subtle indeed, but noticeable all the same, others somewhat more obvious.

By the end of next week two of the mods will be implemented, after that its a spare time Issue, and this is the crazy busy time for me, my job list is manic at the moment, including an installation/calibration in Slovenia (hi Grega)

Rob, Simon and Neal promise to have you sorted soon.

oh and to visit Henry soon too......not forgotten my friend ;)

Anyway lets all enjoy 'video club' shall we, perhpas more regular meets? I have to say controlling/restricting the numbers to a few made for better 'quality time'.

ps quite unfussed about the 'Ruby's promised performance.....Gav and I got to see the 'DIAMOND' just recently $170.000 cinema dlp on a 12' screen 2048x1080, no visible pixel structure from any 'sensible' distance bright as any man could want but oh dear how I cried to get back home to my CRT, it didn't "HOLD A CANDLE" to my unit guy's good though it was....more in detail on that another time but not in the crt section eh.

    James

ps Yas would just like to say your system is no slouch in the Audio and Video department, your G90 looks great and may I say you have done a better job on your set-up than most so called installers (a new career change perhaps Yas) :smashin:

    HI Tom,

There is'nt a huge amount that can be done to the RGB amps two obvious components and another two possibles, I think it would make only the most minor of differences........so i'll do it of course.

There are much bigger gains to be had elsewhere, we have just done the stigmator board and again it's subtle but we have peeled away another layer (since the guy's left)

It may be a slow process with my current work commitment, but will probably tell of my findings over at your place, being much more in depth on the crt side of things and that's where it is better placed.

That mini-event thread was one of the longest on the forum, but I guess it was indeed time to draw a line under it.

Anyway, where do I apply to join this club, then?

    Nick ;)

    Hi Paul,

It all started to happen after the Bikini Babes tape? :D

Just kidding , although get this I have to sing john's better half's praises, she fell in love with my case.....and my speakers! wow what a good woman, wonder if john wants to swap her for a spare marquee 9500? in the domestic case (which he prefers anyway). ;) ouch! forgot about Wenna

    James

(he he Pauls back, along with Gav and John's sense of humour there's no telling what will happen now)

That Vidikron case is a chick thing. There is even a shelf in front of the lenses to take a cocktail glass. And as for the speakers. I just don't get it. I replaced small bookshelf things with a pair a glossy DefTechs and moan..moan...winge...moan. But James has four vinyl wrapped filing cabinets around the room, and it's oooh...they're nice.

At least my room is black. Pitch black. Murky inky black. I feel depressed.

John, Wenna keep's her clothes in the front left speaker, meanwhile the front right contains my clothes, the centre of course contains .....Wenna's shoes

Ok Ok John Black room eh, now where did I put my paint brush?

Just had yet another thought, John it would seem you are 'Hoovering' up the worlds supply of 8" marquee's, and MadMrH is 'Hoovering' up the world's supply of 8" Barco's hmm I can see there may be an EAST meet's WEST situation arrising here soon :)

Until you put a movie on, and then your blacks will stay pretty much black due to the lack of room reflections and your frown should turn into a smile. :)

Gary - hopefully black even with lights on. Zero reflectivity is the aim (of course a black body above absolute zero bla bla bla).

James - crt PJ paranoid: A good one, a spare one and a spares one (which is looking a bit naked for some reason). Interetingly, I think a non LC in a black room out ansi contrasts an LC in a white room. Just a little non-provocative thought, that's all. No one would set up a 9500LC Ultra chick tickler with drinks cabinet in a white room. Noooo.

That's easy: Paint it black and then cop hell for the next six months. (When we moved in, I said 'this room is mine, the rest of the house is yours.' She agreed, so I can do roughly what I want given a big enough row beforehand.)

What I see as the Cinema/Living room she see's as Living/Cinema room with the emphasis on living. I'll just have to split it up somehow.

Perhaps a darker ceiling and curtains along the side walls which could bunch either side of the screen when not in use.

John, believe it or not that was my original plan (and still is) I actually decided to take a week off at xmas and came up with the current curtain plan (bit of a Lawrence Llewellyn bowen) but when the curtain lady came round (who had a figure like Jessica Rabbits.............) phew.......oops sorry back to the story darned viscous subtance on the keyboard now, bloody leaking tubes ;) it was difficult enough as it was to get her to follow my plan. .

Thus I decided to.....man she looked like Traci lords.....oops sorry, sorry where was I? ah yes ahem..so I may have some curtains made to come back along the side walls which will indeed bunch back into the corner.

The plan for the ceiling was to have some kind of curtain track system with a light absorbing black material that can be pulled out for a movie showing.

My ultimate plan is to rear project though, I will endeavour to try and make it happen this year, put the 'Hannibal' in the room behind the current screen wall......but that's another story.

John glad the new addition deal worked out ;)

    James
