Just spotted this ad on another forum Here

50 CRT projectors for $50K US , that is about £704 GBP each + shipping etc. ( You need over £35K GBP though for the lot)

Might be interesting to someone :)

Curt is a good guy. I'ts a very good offer. problem would be the shipping costs which is why he has never done too well in the UK.

is that inc vat and import duty . :( :(

it's so sad there are just so many bargains to be had over that bit of water . it's such a shame that it can cost as much to get the bl**dy things over here as it dos to buy em

from all the good press i would love to be able to get a pj from curt over on avs . i allways think of "what do you do if somthing gos wrong" he may be willing to help but it's not like popping down the road

sounds like a great bargain though for somone over there starting out in the crt buisness

Be careful when importing CRTs as there is a large import duty on them. I once considered import but shipping is includerd as a cost and with duty and vat you can add a further 33% to the cost + shipping. It cancelled my purchase anyway

    Hello Jeff,

Are you sure it is 33% ?

When I have been stung for Import Duty and Vicously Added Tax in the past on imports, it is usually value of goods declared + shipping, then has about 5% duty added then VAT at 17.5% on the lot ?

    So around 22% - 23% ?

Can anyone find the rules here ? - http://www.hmce.gov.uk/

It helps to buy from a private seller who can be 'creative' with the value declared ;)

    Mark.

    A
year or so ago I put my name down on a BD808s with TAW and just to avoid confusion I telephoned Customs and Excise ,who informed me that the duty on CRT projectors(it took them a while to look it up) was ,I think, 12% and when you then add the VAT it becomes around a 32% addition, to cost +shipping ,for combined taxes
of course I could have been mis-informed but wasn't prepared for a £2k increase on the Barco so cancelled.
    Cheers

It's a computor display device therefore should be zero rated.

    5 - 12% would be normal

    + the good old VAT
