    Hi,

Spoke to someone at Columbia TriStar today, in regards to their now-abandoned release of "The Emperor And The Assassin", and was also given the following info on what to expect with the Region 2 DVD of "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon":-

    Release Date: July-August 2001
    Release Type: same-day retail/rental
    Format: 2.35:1 Widescreen ratio
Soundtrack: Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround, Dubbed and Subtitled versions.
    Extras:
    - 22 minute featurette
    - Ang Lee audio commentary
    - "Making Of..." documentary
    - Music videos
    - Production Notes
    - Filmographies

Sounds quite good to me! Unless the R1 version can improve on this, then I might actually hang-on for another few months, and get the R2 DVD!

That looks very similar to the Region 3 release. Which is out now, I don't plan to wait.

    Brian H,

Can you play R1 or set R1 from the Handset? If so you should be able to set R3 in a similar way.

Personally I dont see the point of waiting for CTHD in the Middle of the year for a Making Of... (which was probably the dire HBO fluff one). Also as it already took awards at the Golden Globes I'm expecting it to get an Oscar nom, a larger release in the US and a delayed R1/R2 DVD date [IMG]

Hello..mine is the 0,1,2,3 multiregion R2 & R1 (not sure if that means R0 or any region) it certainly don't play Hollow Man (doh!) or I presume the Patriot..I suppose I can wait for the region one but as it's the dreaded Columbia who will be releasing it that doesn't look too hopeful either I may have to get my purse out and upgrade....cheers for the reply!

    Hendrik,

Unfortunately, nothing had been confirmed regarding anamorphic or non-anamorphic, when I spoke to the lady at Columbia TriStar, so I wouldn't like to say if it would be one or the other.

I guess it will be anamorphic, but don't forget this is a Region 2 disc we're talking about here, and very few R2 DVD's have anamorphic prints.

What do you mean "very few R2 DVD's have anamorphic prints."

Almost all R2 discs released are Anamorphic (especially new ones). It is R1 which are a bit behind with Anamorphic transfers.

I am suprised that people still are willing to wait for the R2 release.

Get the R3 and you have it all!

It's Anamorphic, has good extras and is definitely NOT RCE.

The R1 is likely to be RCE and the R2 version is gonna be ages.

Go on, spoli yourselves. Buy it on import [IMG]

    I agree with Ono

I can't decide to get the R3 from MoviTyme (As I really want it) or wait untill April (when I go to Bangkok) get it for 800 Bhat (Currently - £12.50).
