    Hi all,
As a big Steve Vai fan I would really like to upgrade my VHS copy of Crossroads to the DVD version but I cannot find it anywhere.
I'm also a big Ry Cooder fan too.

Surely it has been converted - lots of other crap titles have.

I know it's not a good film by any stretch of the imagination but I just love the Guitar duel at the end. It's called Eugene's trick bag if anyone cares.

Can anyone let me know if I can get hold of this title please.

    Thanks,
    Richard.

I was worried when I read the title. I thought it was going to be about the one with Benny in it :D

    Ric,

This is the movie with Ralph Macchio in isn't it? :)

I remember looking for this myself a couple of months ago. Couldn't find it anywhere. It's not on DVD yet mate.

    Yes :D I love those movies :D

Sadly, Hilary [email protected]'s surname is considered rude by the Forums software. But we won't get into all that again :D

Yeah at the time they were Fab. But I'll not tell you about my painful experience on the fence post while practicing the Crane Kick.

Not sure if you know this but done correctly, no defend against :D

Yeah, but at the end of Karate Kid Part III, we saw that Mr Miyagi god darn lied about that :( Either that, or he just didn't know because he wasn't keeping up with the latest developments in karate via Crane Monthly :D

Not seen Karate Kid Part III then?

It's not as bad as its IMDB.com rating makes out. I enjoyed it more than Part II :)

Part III is set in Japan. I think that's why I enjoyed it. I took it like a bad martial arts movie :D

Strangely, I can't remember ANYTHING about Crossroads, apart from the guitar duel at the end. I did only see it once when I was about 15 though  I remember enjoying it and was looking to buy it for memories of my youth :D

It's definately not out on dvd yet but I'm pretty sure
that I read on some dvd site a few weeks ago that it will
be released early in the new year.
Anyhow, here's a site that has some info on the movie
    and other 80's greats....

    OK,
It's about a young Classical Guitar player, Macchio who really loves the blues. He is obsessed with the legend and songs of Robert Johnson; The famous blues man who sold his soul to the devil at the crossroads. (The actual legend of Robert Johnson is fantastic stuff - shame the film ignored most of it)
Macchio finds one of Robert's old harp players and goes with him on a search for a lost song!
The movie is basically a coming of age / road trip movie.
Of course the final scenes show Macchio taking on the devil's own guitar slinger, Jack Butler. (Vai). (Vai was born on the 6th day / 6th month / 1966 - weird or what!)

Macchio mimes the gutiar parts all the way through the film (Very well actually) they are performed by Ry Cooder. Steve Vai plays all the guitar parts from the final duel. (Eugene's trick bag)

Oh, and the sound track CD is great but you have to buy the new Steve Vai Box Set to get the duel on CD as Ry Cooder ommited it from the soundtrack. (Pillock!)

Hope that jogs the memory a bit!

As for hurting yourself painting fences, you must remeber -
First learn balance, then learn punch! Only then may you even consider a crane kick!
Have you seen the 4th film? I think Karate Kid was a girl - but not as girly as Macchio!

    Richard.

The clue was in this bit:

No, I haven't seen it because it was not called Part IV but "The Next Karate Kid", so I felt I could omit it from my viewing :D - but Hilary [email protected] played the Karate Chick.
