I am posting this thread again because have just heard from someone else with the same problem that Sony have quoted him over £1200 for repair, obviously a write off. Have I lost my sony after so little use from it. I switched on my Sony projector on Monday & on the blue background screen on the top left hand corner was a strange black shape. I thought at first it was a dirt blob on the lens/lcd but the shape was quite weird a bit like tips of a fern leaf. When I played a film the outline of the shape soften and changed to a smeary yellow on white scenes. I bought my hs10 from Unbeatable just over 2 years ago and it has done 400ish hours and treated with utmost care. It has had a mild form of the lamp bug but I did not send it back because it occurred only very occasional. I have looked on the net & from reading reports from other hs10 owners it seems that it is another stock fault & it is a failed prism block. Now I am not sure what to do. From what I can gather it is going to be expensive. What I would like to know is : Can the prism block be repaired or can I replace it myself (I have changed bits on faulty tv's & vcr's in the past). Where can I obtain the spares & how much would the prism block be. If it has to be repaired by a dealer who is the best company to deal with . I went on the Sony support site & they seem to direct you to other agents who might or might not handle projectors. Is it worth pursuing as a complaint with Sony UK due to the fact that after so little use the pj should go so seriously faulty. Is it possible to get some sort of part exchange, although I have been put off slighty from Sony due to the poor realiabity I would not mind upgrading to the hs50. Any comments/help on this problem would be greatly appreciated.
