i should know the answer to this, but i don't.

is it possible to transfer a debt onto a credit card, from a debit card?

i know credit card to credit card is fine, but what about from an overdraft on a debit card?

basically, moving to a new place, they want £x as a deposit, but will only accept it from a debit card. now, until i get some of my deposit back from my current place, i won't have the full amount to pay with a debit card.

so i am going to have to go into my overdraft, pay for it that way and was then hoping to trasnfer the overdraft debt onto a credit card and then pay the credit card debt off once i get back whatever i am owed from my current deposit.

is this possible or am i up sh*t creek without a paddle?

I transferred my overdraft to my barclaycard on interest free.

A lot of the cards do cash advances that work in a similar way to a transfer. You get the same charges and the same interest free period. I know a few MBNA ones do.

i would rather just do a straight balance transfer though using an existing card (which i think i have an interest free period offer on). will give them a quick ring and see what they say

As it is a debit card, surely it's tied to your bank anyway. So a cash transfer or transfer from the debit card is the same thing?

I definitely transferred my £4k overdraft about 3 months ago.

this is true. either way, it will wipe out the overdraft etc. i just don't want to apply for any more credit cards as trying to improve my score. so i am hoping that barclaycard send me through a new offer soon to use

That's because what you are asking for is a cash advance. There are a few credit cards that offer this.

The AA card for example gives 16 months on cash advances.
