    This creative card is £30 + P&Phere
and the Gamesurround II is £45 + P&P
    here
Is the Creative card good enough for connecting to my 5.1 Receiver for dvd playback, or should I go for the Hercules card which offers optical connection and Powerdvd 4.0.
Bearing in mind I will need a cable 10 Metres long for connecting to my Receiver

    Cheers

Hi TimH - just posted a (subjective) opinion of the Fortissimo II as a reply to your post on Glasswalker's thread.

Personally I have thrown away two Fortissmo 2 cards due to awful drivers and mucho problems.

I'd get a cheap SB 4.1 digital if I was on a budget.

I think I'd stretch an extra fiver and get an Audigy OEM (check out www.pcindex.co.uk for a few of the cheapest prices). I have both the SBLive! Player 5.1 and an Audigy Platinum and the latter really shines in terms of signal quality, with the exception of perhaps a slightly grubby mic channel. The output is very clean indeed; more akin to a pro-level card in terms of SNR than any other I've used. I have found the SB Live! to have a pretty rough top-end at times. Maybe it's slightly peaky, I don't know... in contrast, the Audigy has a very flat response. The software is slightly fiddly but once things are set up you can generally leave them be.

    Thanks all :)

It looks like I may have to spend a bit more and go for the Audigy Player card then.
The best OEM I could find was here at £50 + P&P.

    Thanks again :)

Could be extra money well spent, in my opinion. That was the cheapest price I could find also. It might be worth asking for some other opinions, because I know some people don't think too much of the Audigy! I think the general consensus is that it is a pretty good card though. :)
