I don't get my kit for a wee while, so I've been thinking how to connect it all by reading this forum and the online manuals. This is what I have come up with so far. Pictures tell a 1000 words...

Well I'm going to do a Blair and recommend the third way.

Sky into JS YUV convertor into plasma
PS-2 and DVD into av amp.

That way you can have tv pinp with all setups, its possible that you might want to watch the footie in a small screen whilst playing a game or watching a dvd waiting for a tv program to start. Unlikely that you will need dvd and ps-2 at the same time.

I have the TV PinP alot esp when champions league is on.

    Neil.

Thanks for that Neil, or is it Tony? :D

I do agree that Sky should be PinP'd with the other sources, so that's going to go directly to the plasma - either VGA or component, just need to test it to see what's better. Is there even going to be a difference?

After looking at the JS website I see they do a RGB to VGA converter, which is doing exactly the same as the syncblaster. So a fourth way! :D

Most people have gone down the syncblaster route only at some time to buy a JS unit anyway so I'd plump straight for that ...

an advantage of setup 2 is that you don't have to worry about lipsync on the PS2 by splitting the audio/video ...

No I doubt there will be any difference. The JS units they are all of excellent quality and I would recommend these to anyone. So either component or VGA yoiu can't go wrong.

    Regards,
    Neil.

    Fantastic picture :)

Please can someone explain what a JS YUV is, what it doesn, and where I can get one from?

    Sounds like a good option!

    Cheers

John makes 3 excellent conversion products

RGBtoSvideo, converts RGB signal to Svideo
Plasma VGA, converts RGB signal to a VGA signal for a plasma
RGB to YUV, converts RGB signal to a component YUV signal.

I've had the top two and they are excellent products.

    Regards,
    Neil.

How did you connect your Dreamcast to your PW6? I am pretty pleased with RGB scart, but is there a better way? (VGA cable?)

You can buy the DC VGA lead which outputs progressive scan 640x480 and is regarded as the best connection for the DC.

I'd guess he used an illustration program like Xara X, Corel DRAW or Adobe Illustrator. Xara X does nice bevels and smooth gradients like those on the "Setup" title :)

Can anyone tell I'm bored at work? :D

Cheers for all the comments lads!

I'm going to go with the suggestion from Neil, and put the Sky to a converter and then into component - I'm updating the drawing at the moment (using Macromedia Fireworks MX Neil :smashin: ). I'll post it later.

I just hope setting it up and all that is easier than drawing a picture!

NP mate :) but seriously the dreamcast looks way ahead of the competition when you hook up via VGA. Soul Calibur looks better on the DC than it does on the Xbox, PS-2 and Gamecube.
