This afternoon tried to record off my sky digi-box using the timer.
when I got in from work I found that it had only recorded the first 30 minutes of the film and on the on screen display it said that it had not been possible to record the whole programme
Now when I have tried to re-format the disc or set it to record a nasty cracling sound comes from the loudspeakers and is recorded to the disc. Any ideas of what the problem might be?

    Thanks Ian

Hi Ian, I am having the same problem with my dr-m10s, i think it could be overheating as it only seems to happen when it has been turned on for a while. Maybe the fan is'nt opperating. I think i will contact JVC. I you have fixed the problem please advise.

The return to JVC for repair cured the fault in mine. About three weeks in total as I recall. Sending it back from Oldham to the online retailers in Birmingham then them sending it on to JVC and then return via the same route. Didn't cost me anything except time.

It will be the resistor mod as mentioned by ROYOLD. To enable a quick fix for this, JVC have now started a swapout system to handle these units. Your retailer should have the number.
