I was going to post this in 'Music' but as no ****** apart from Gambit looks there, I thought I'd post it here as I think it might have wider appeal.

I guess you've all noticed that trance music has, over the last six months, become little more than dance cover versions of 80s and early 90s classics.

    We've had:

    Boys of Summer (Don Henley)
    Heaven (Bryan Adams)
I Think We're Alone Now (Tiffany)
Fall At Your Feet (Crowded House)
I Was Made For Loving You (Kiss)
Hard To Say I'm Sorry (Chicago)

    and a load of others.

So, as the trance/pop/rock cover version movement gathers steam, which old classic do YOU think they will (or maybe should) do next?

    I'm thinking:

Keep On Lovin' You (REO Speedwagon)
    Heat Of The Moment (Asia)
    More Than A Feeling (Boston)
    Babe (Styx)
    Dreams (Van Halen)

And the one I'd like to hear most of all?

    Don't Stop Believing (Journey)

LOL, take your point 100% Oli, fair play.

No, it's not my kind of trance, that's for sure... but it does make me laugh spotting the cover versions.

That kind of stuff has been termed 'Northern trance' as the only people who really like it seem to be biffa type northern girls  :rotfl:

All good, but the two above would rule.

I always forget just how good early Alice Cooper was, until I hear an old track and end up listening to all his albums. Teenage Lament '74 and How You Gonna See Me Now are two of the best songs ever written.

'No Matter What' by Badfinger would be good too.

Juboy, out of interest, do you go out clubbing much? I'm usually at godskitchen and places like that (although prog and breaks are more my thing) Going this saturday... Fergie  :( :suicide: But its a cheap nite for me, wanted to go see Hybrid spin at Fabric, but it would cost a fortune!

    Hey I'm northern:mad: :D

Actually, the term is "scouse house", despite it's origins being neither of the two words:D

Just a bit. I actually put on a nightclub night, mainly Frantic/Nukleuz type stuff... Andy Farley, Nick Sentience, Binary Finary, that kind of stuff.

Hybrid are cool, would be interesting to see them play. We're trying to book Solar Stone at the moment, they're of a similar style.

We had an email from Fergie's older brother asking for a spot earlier today :D

Our site, which is embarrassingly out of date, is at:

Cool, sounds a bit hard for me, heh, I was chatting to Neo & Farina earlier at their store in Leicstershire, those are 2 guys you should try and book! They have had bugger all gigs, but they have some serioulsy upfront tracks! (My mate Jon, a gods ressie was trying to nick some, lol)

If you need any trance DJs... I have a list about as long as my arm of people you could book... all vvv good :)

You're right Juboy - Uncle Eric, Charlie Whitehouse and I were discussing this very thing on Sunday at the show and I was about to post the very same thoughts myself.

Hey adox, you're about the only other person here that I expect to remember Keel doing 'Because The Night'?

Made me laugh when I heard the trance version of that one (although I do admit, Keel's version was itself a cover of the Bruce Springsteen/Patti Smith song).

Ron Keel's band, did quite well in the late 80s/early 90s after being taken under Gene Simmons wing. Had a few hits and, apparently one of A&M's fastest selling debut album's ever.

Don't apologise, I quite enjoyed listening to your tracks. The funny thing is I know people who'd actually buy that (given a bit of tidying up here and there).

I'm glad my thread's led to a bit of creativity :smashin: :)

There's any number waiting to be made... my friend had an idea to do a trance version of Smalltown Boy - Bronski Beat. Then in a club one night i heard it- bit of research on napster- and there was one floating round. Some others that are just waiting for it:

Nothings gonna stop us now - Starship (We built this city could work also...)
Somewhere in my heart - Aztec Camera
I want to know what love is - Foreigner
Together in electric dreams - Giorgio Moroder ;) & Phil Oakey
    Vienna - Ultravox
    ...

They're doing my head in. Becoming ever harder to sift the trance out of the cheese.
