could this spell the end of sky+ £10 sub? - i think so, evenyually.

    I know there are already DVD recorders out there, but the important thing i think, is the intergrated EPG system. This direction is surely going to desuade people from going down the sky+ route. I doubt it will be much longer before other manufacturers also jump on philips bandwagon, no doubt with hard-disk variants too. The sooner the better AFAIC.

    Does this new Philips have a built in hard drive? I think an EPG type solution will only be of use with a large storage capacity. Having to change the DVD disk every few hours would make it impractical.

    I think the new breed of machines lkike the panny HS2 with this system would be awsome!!!!!! record all day to a hard drive and the to archive to cheap DVD media. and just think that with DD5.1 and widescrren on sky decent high quality home recording will be possible!
