    Hi,
A few days ago I bought a Sony 930 which really is a great machine!!

Last night I was watching dvd but fell asleep about 11pm. When I woke at 6am this morning the player was still on and playing a loop of data. (Probably the menu part of the disk)

The player was quite warm but I have no idea how hot it gets anyway.

I guess I am just a boit paranoid really but after a cople of Tosh's and a Pioneer this really is a great machine, and I just hope the drive etc can take playing for that long ok.

    Regards

It should be ok, if it is damaged I would say it's a fault. Why shouldn't you be alowed to watch 8-10 hours of movies? If it doesn't have active cooling i.e. a fan (and what players do these days?) then the device getting warm is justs it's way of transferring heat, like a heatsink body.

IM also paranoid about damaging my new pride and joy (denon 3910) but these things are built to last. I wouldnt worry. Just let it cool after u used it for a while, and it should be fine.

It may have even done some good since it has 'bedded in' all the electronics as they generally don't like start/stop - hot/cold switching, therefore maybe giving a more stable future machine :)

Hi end HIFI buffs do the same with their equipment before tests/upon purchase and especially with speakers...

Thought that might make you feel better!

I wouldn't worry about it. I know somone who went on holiday for two weeks with his player still playing a DVD. He came back with a player with a busted laser.

I think he was lucky that only the player went.
