Anyone know how I could go about getting one of these? My employer has a trade account but they have stopped allowing staff to pay for additional cards. I know you have to be self employed or a certain profession but everyone seems to manage getting one and so would I.

I was told if pay £20 for an extra card after 12 months I can sign up for my own but not sure how to get 1 in the 1st instance.

Thanks

Matt

In my company they come in twice a year and sign people up. Could you see if that is an option where you work?

It was a year or so ago, but they have put a stop to it recently for some reason so looking at other
methods of getting one. Would be really useful for me and it's round the corner.

What's your occupation?

Although they have certain criteria to join, they are pretty flexible, as they like to have people join, as they spend money.

If you allow them to manipulate the truth you'll probably get a membership, especially as you already had a company one.

If you've ever trained anyone to do anything at work, you can say that you are a part time trainer, and as such in education.

My wife did child minding for a while, and they said that was under education, so we have her as a trade member, and me as the addition spouse card.

I work as a Project Specialist so work on client's premises. Costco would be good as a lot of times I have to buy supplies, granted I get it back but it's cheaper and I do in excess of 20,000 miles in my own car so things like tyres and service parts are cheap there.

Think I would be eligible for one?

Thanks

Can't seeing you getting it straight forwardly, but worth popping in with your old card, and just blag that you were told you needed to now move to individual membership, and as you teach clients, you are considered an educator.

Just go in with a smile and expect the membership, not question it.

Do a Derren Brown, a mind warp the desk person, the worst case, is they say no, and you look suprised and walk away.

Can only try :p I do train customers and agency staff though so maybe they will let me off

I was going to say, as a PS I'm sure you do training. Show em a training manual!

Be confident, as though you've already been told last time you came in, and take the manual mentioned. As I said, they have to be seen to do the right thing, but they also want people to join.

Let us know how you get on:smashin:

Just whip up your own business card and matching headed paper, that's all they checked on me.

I would probably just get done for fraud. Anyone want to get me a card please :)

Anyone can start up as a sole trader, costs nothing and means you can qualify for things like Costco.

I doubt anyone would get a 2nd card for a stranger, far too much risks

Didn't really expect anyone get a card for me, didn't know there was a risk though.

Just been looking for advice really on how to get my own.

Thanks

Did you do in and ask for the membership as I suggested?

Too much of a coward to go, I phoned and had a lengthy conversation with someone. Advised me on how I couldn't get 1 myself, looked into my works membership and confirmed they still have an active account so told me to speak to them which I have already done and they refuse to allow staff to register now. I can only assume someone abused it somewhere down the line.

It's just crazy as always hear of people having 1 but never known any of them to have their own business. Think I am going to have to go in and try

What sort of stuff do Costoco sell - is it quality stuff or cheaper stuff ?
There isn't a branch anywhere near me (in Cornwall) so it isn't worth joining for me unless they have stock of things I might buy or want to get in bulk.
A quick google doesn't give me any idea of what they sell so can anyone enlighten me ?
I am a builder/decorator as well as a photographer, my kids read a lot, I enjoy eating good food and drinking decent wine if that helps..!

They sell loads of bits
Most of the things you'll use around the house, some in bulk.
Different foods.
Electricals, white goods, TVs etc..., toys, books, films.
Outdoor gear for the garden such as sheds, gazebos, summers houses, hot tubs, tools.
Beds and bedding, computers.
We buy all our detergents, kitchen bits, some food there.
They tend to sell some things as one offs. when they're gone, you never see it again.
They have their own brand Kirkland, which is good quality stuff.
They do tyres, photo service, opticians.
The one thing I like is the warranty, they don't mess about with returns, they always pay up to me for things I've ever had go wrong.
One instance I always quote people, is when I took a kettle back which was leaking, they looked on the system and said it was bought 5 years earlier, so I said just bin it then, but they still said that if it was leaking, then I would get a refund for what I paid for it 5 years before.

Hi,

I don't know if you can wait but when Costco have stands at exhibitions like ideal home - the promotors there will have a very flexible attitude & you sign up there & then!! Hope that helps!

Suave!
