looking for suggestions on the currect placement of a 50" plasma. I have a tv cabinet which is 320mm in height. I am planning to buy a LG RZ50PY10. The table top stand is 75mm. So that works out to be 395mm from the floor.

Is 395mm from the floor high enough???

It's been said many times - get a cardboard cutout of the same dimensions as your target screen, place it on the wall/furniture, see if you're confortable with it from your seating position. Ideally, as far as I know, the center of the screen should be a little under the eye line.

In my experience, closer to the floor is better than up at picture height. In fact, my 37PV500 is actually sitting on the floor (no pedestal) - which stops it dominating the room, and is perfectly viewable.

I would have thought the centre of the screen should be at head height.

So you're not far off, IMO

At then end of the day manbank it's what's the most comfortable for you if you end up have to strain you're neck just to watch TV then it's obviously not in the correct position.

I would have thought the top of the screen should be at head height, so that your neck and eyes are most confortable. Even more, I often lay down on the couch while watching, which brings the eye line even lower, so placing the plasma high up (say, on a fireplace) would be completely out of the question, I'd have to lay on my back to see anything.

    :)

I guess lying on the floor would make it tricky, but otherwise, I suppose it doesn't really matter.

    Whatever you prefer then
