Somebody posted a link once to some filters that gave really good results converting colour pics to black and white images in Photoshop.

    Anybody....?

Not sure what you are after Chris. Just suck out all the saturation. Alternatively copy the green channel into all all three colour channels. This is similar to how B/W film works.

If you want sepia or other colourisation then just color correct your triple green channel image ( you could try red instead but forget about blue)

That method is pretty much what I've described. Copy a single channel into the other channels to give you a monochrome image ( red and green like I said avoid blue) and then you can mix percentages between the red channel only version and green channel only version. The demystified explanation of "replicating how b/w film behaves" ie simulating black and white negatives differing degrees of sensitivity to red green and blue light.

(You can also try maxing and mining the versions together rather than a mix)

There are not that many ways of making a colour photograph simulate a black and white one regardless of overly convoluted claims.

Hate it when simple image manipulation processes get mystified , I regularly have to tell people in the industry off about this.
