I have a Panasonic MX8 with DV in/out and analogue in/out. I want to capture my old analogue onto my PC, can I use my digicam as a converter and do it directly without recording each analogue tape to digital tape?

I have the same question, but this time with a Panasonic NV-GX7b camcorder. It works fine when copying to MiniDV, then capture on the PC, then burn it to a disk..... but it takes a LONG time  ... same question....is there any way to cut out the middle process

I guess you mean that want the camcorder to transcode the analogue to firewire.

I regularly do this with my VX2000 in both directions, obviously you don't need to record onto the tape, but the edit system you use may need to be told not to try controlling the deck (camera).
