Although conveted files play fine when I author and burn to DVD (+RW) around 15 mins in there is noticable delay between audio and video. Is there any mpeg software which will sort this ?

The files are large 2.7GB btw for just 1hr, why so ?

video files and audio files are stored seperately on a dvd, longers runs can have problems with synching.
    ways around this:

bring your source footage into your dvd burning application in smaller chunks, say five minute chunks at the most.

if your software allows, drop the data rate, at the moment I'd gauge that you data rate is about 6MBps, which is pretty high quality (and why you 'only' fit an hour into 2.whaterver it was gb, an hours source footage wont give you much change from 12gb)

try 5Mps or 4Mbps, quality should still be ok, and it will be easier for the audio and video to synch, you should be able to fit 2 hours of good quality footage onto a single layer DVD.
