I've got a film on DVD but it's interlaced and looks horrible to watch after being used to progressive scan.

Is it possible to rip, convert and burn it so it's in progressive scan?

I might be wrong, it's been known, but aren't all DVDs inherently interlaced with the contents stored as either 480i or 576i ?
