I have connected my Rotel RB 1582 MkII amplifier to the Line 2 Out connection of Yamaha R-N803 Network Receiver. I'm just attempting to play 'spotify' as the source.

Perhaps a simple question, how do I control the volume? If I can at all?

The connection to the Rotel RB 1582 MkII works fine. But it plays back at full volume. Turning down the volume on the Yamaha R-N803 has no effect.

Some help?

I believe those line out's are for recording to another component only and have FIXED level volume.
To use the Rotel as the main amp and the Yamaha as a pre-amp you would need to have PRE-OUTS' on the Yamaha.

The line out jacks are intended to be used with recording devices and are not pre outs. The signal level will remain fixed and cannot be adjusted. The Yamaha R-N803 cannot be used as a pre amp and the only means by which to adjust the volume would be to use the Rotel's own volume control.
