Anyone know if it's possible to control a DVD Recorder from another room?
I have a Sky eye which I use to change channels etc on my SKY+ box and I'm wondering if there's a similar product out there which I could use to control a recorder such as the upcoming Sony 910 or the Panny DMREH60D. (The two recorders on my short list).
I have cable from the boxes in the living room into another room and I've heard of wireless remotes which transmit the signal but I've not seen anything that operates like the Sky eye. I want to use the cable as opposed to the wireless method of relaying the signal as I'm sure the quality would be better.

As the other post but I would recommend the one4All video/remote senders.

You won't need the Sky eye thing as that is basicly doing the samething, but powered from the UHF output 2 on the Skybox.

    Thanks

FYI, I use a wireless extender and it works well enough with a Panny E85 DVD recorder, although it seems to be just slightly less responsive than the direct path.

The only real problems have been:
    1. Cheap construction, I had to fix a dud joint inside it.
    2. Wife gets in the way of the remote receiver, in the other room.
    3. If the other room has the same make of TV as what I'm watching, the remote control operates both TV's at once!

    Many thanks everyone
Looks like problem solved. As I will continue to watch via the existing cable, I will only need something to enable me to use the remote to control the DVD recorder from another room, so I guess for me cheapest is best.
Once again this forum has come up trumps!

    Try FleaBay.
I bought a master sender and 2 slaves some time ago for about £60. It has an IR transmitter which sticks to the top of my DMR-E85 and allows me to control and watch it in my 2nd room and bedroom :)
The only problem is that interference can sometimes occur, especially when my WiFi router in on.
