control receiver and dvd player in unit with closed wooden door - I'm confused?

    It doesn't say you need the extender cable regardless.
    Only if you want the extenders do you need the extender cable.

    sorry, i wasn't clear. it says if your kit is in a locked/closed cupboard you need the extender cable?

    That's OK - you were fine - it's tucked away in the FAQs!
    If your equipment will "see" the second unit then all will be well and nothing else will be needed.
    You might like to consider the Powermid 300 XTRA instead.
    It's a more recent model that works on batteries.
