For the love of god I wish Sony would update the firmware to add a feature that turns off the pad after x mins non-use. The 360 does it, and as I was used to it for months, I keep forgetting the PS3 doesn't, so when I sit down to play I find the pad has flat!!!

Couple that with the fact the charging lead is only about 1m long, and I can't play till the bloody thing is charged up again!

    Argghhhh!

i know it sounds crazy but why dont you just turn the console off when you're not using it? Personally I've never seen it as a problem that the controllers dont turn off on their own.

Or press the PS button and select turn off controller

When I saw the title I thought your pad had fell apart or something

lol, it would be a nice feature tbh, as I usually play music and leave the pad on incase I want to skip etc, but then I venture off or friends come round and I forget to turn the control off while the music is playing, a 15min timeout would be nice tbh

    No biggie though :p

If you get the bluetooth remote control that does exactly what you're saying ;)

    I am.

Problem is though, since I have a replacement PS3, my own individual stats are "lost" - it seems you can't tie your existing stats to your new console.

    Get yourself one of these...

and I plug it in to one of these...

and have it sitting on a little table next to the sofa. Al rather discrete and I never have to worry about the charge level in the controller.
