Yeah, I was planning on watching this during Easter but after all the negative comments probably will give it a miss.

It is a bit dire. The first sort of 30 minutes are quite good. But it quickly deteriorates into silly nonsense.

The acting is diabolical. Arf arf.

Shame really as it is based on a great comic book. My name here is as it is only because Constantine was taken :D . I get to see how they have butchered the second best comic (after Sandman) from my youth tomorrow.

My expectations are not high :(

I personally thought this was an excellent film, very good idea taken and made manifest, Effects are fantastic especially the transition between planes.

You may say the acting is bad but IMO Keanu is Keanu, thats what you get, he plays the same character in every film he is in. If you are not a fan of his films then you will probably hate this one.

If you take out that fact and just watch it with an open mind, forget the comics for a split second then you may actually find this quite enjoyable.

I dare someone to come up with a better film in the last 6-12 months within a similar genre

I'm another huge fan of Hellblazer(especially the Dangerous Habits story) and was quite surprised by this as it wasn't anywhere near as bad as League Of Extraordinary Gentleme(now that is a p!$$ poor comic-to-film thing) which is what I was expecting.

I do not deny that this could've been alot better.
They should have left John as a scouser and not a surfer-dude(I'll always see Keanu as Ted). Props to Tilda Swinton though thought that she was good.

I've never read the comics so have no expectations, I also know Keanu Reeves performance won't be oscar-winning. Given that, I may go and watch this over Easter weekend, seems like an ideal popcorn movie!

Went to see this the other day, didnt realise it was from a comic.

I liked it to be honest. OK so some of the acting was a a little wooden but it shouldnt come as a surprise looking at the lead actor.

I thought the special effects were well done and generally not used to the extreme.

Yes some of the characters were pretty bog standard and towards the end theres a bit thats a blatant rip off from anther film but all in all I enjoyed the film and would probably buy it when it comes out on DVD.

My boss asked me on Monday moring what i'd done over the weekend, when I said i'd seen Constantine he said what everyone else seems to be saying ....isnt it meant to be c**p ?

I dont think it is so there

The last film about God and the devil to my recollection was Stigmata, and that ****** all over this sorry state of a film.

This is a tragic movie. Watched it last weekend and just found it unbearably dull. The special effects aren't great, the acting and script are poor, and the overall execution of the movie is one of blandness.

I think that's a bit harsh. (Unless of course he's got one of those high powered jet wash things ;) , borrowed me dads the other day and had a great time :D )

    I'd give Constantine 5 or 6/10

It was far better than I feared it would be having grown up loving the early Hellblazer. I enjoyed it, Canoe did better that I thought he would (could have called it Matrix 4, it was Neo again...I was expecting a surfer dude ;) ). Effects were well done, not over the top...the stuff in Hell reminded me of Devils Advocate. Still confused as to how they have made TINE sound like TEEN :(

Shouldnt have watched Dogma this morning, have OD'd on Demons and Angels :)

The inevitable SE with Zippo, Apule of Holy Water and lifesize Spear of Destiny will go down a storm :D

I think he's got two characters which are quite distinct; Surfer-dude (Bill and Ted's) and IMO his best acting to date, and deadpan serious (The Matrix) which is sort of Keanu with all emotion surpressed (disclaimer: with added OTT "surprise" expressions etc on occasions).

I really do wonder what he's like in real life, and if he's full-time on mood supressors or something when he makes these...

But ummm, not inspired, maybe when it hits the bargin bins in a couple years i'll pick it up.

I say just watch it Tejstar . If you like it you'll be glad you saw it in the cinema, if you don't like it you don't like it.

Some folks are acting as if it's this years Van Helsing or Catwoman but some people actually like it, which is more then I can say about thoses two. Because of the overwhelmingly bad word of mouth these two got I avoided them (would'nt mind seeing how bad they are though) but Constantine seems to be getting pretty mixed reviews.

I enjoyed it, different then I expected. Thought it'd be all out action but it actually moved at quite a steady pace (or was boring in the eyes of those who did'nt like it). Had some really good ideas, some poor Keanu "acting", Rachael Weisz (a "wet t-shirt contest Rachael Weisz" I may add :D  ), and some decent CGI.

A solid 7/10 for me :smashin:

Saw it yesterday. I went not expecting a lot, I thought it was reasonable. I've not read the comics so I wasn't upset on things they may of changed. I would give it 6.5/10

I suppose you could wait for this to turn up on DVD.

Oh if you do go and see it there are some extra bits after the credits that I missed, but found out about afterwards.
