Hi everyone,

I am working in a research lab and there we want to use a TV to present pictures to the test persons.
The TV will be controlled via the graphic board of a computer.

We are interested in the exact timing a picture is shown on the TV. As we know when the signal leaves the graphic board, the unkown is the input lag.
BUT, for us the actual amount of the input lag is not so important, rather the consistency of the input lag. If the input lag was constant, we could always add this value to the time the signal left the graphic board and then we would know at which exact time a picture was presented.

Suppose one tests the input lag 10 times, an optimal TV for us would be one where you measure the same input lag each and every time - regardless of the mean of these 10 measurements.

The worst would be one where the input lag is different every time even though this might result in a mean of e.g. 10 ms.

So, does anyone know something about the variance of the input lag? In the tests of the input lag here in the reviews you probably measure it a few times, so there should be information on the variance.

I would have thought input lag would have to be consistent for smooth video playback?
