97A7D55B-6B8E-43F5-93E9-D7DD1FE705DD.jpeg because of the worst uniformity I have seen on an oled I might just return and go with the Z9. Anyone know what can be causing the box like light in the center.

Love the oled but tired of uniformity and burnin worries.

Ah yes that old chestnut, had the same on mine when I had one, it's a burnt in square from factory calibration apparently, I saw it in content e.g Arrival when they first go into the ship. The zd9 is a cracking TV but the zf9 has just been announced so as long as you're aware the zd9 is about to be replaced and can live with the Android OS and potential for DSE (mine didn't have any with writing about) it's worthy of consideration. At the end of the day it's not an oled though...

Get the new AF9 OLED instead. Sony will be doing panel inspection and calibration at the factory for this model which should dramatically improve uniformity. And new X1 Ultimate chip with the AF9.

Yes mate it will be more expensive, but I'm willing to pay extra for near-perfect uniformity, amazing near-black shadow details, and no banding. The ZF9 is a good kit, but I wouldn't change to LCD from OLED.

True, uniformity in the gray scale is horrible but I have not seen in in actual content.

Sony is amazing and their oled is the best available in the US. The oled panel issues are a manufacturing issue or quality control on LG. Sony is the best television manufacturer in the world on my opinion.

Of course LG is also great and OLED is available thanks to them. I had the LG C8 for a little over a week until something happened to it electrically and I have to exchange it for the Sony . I can tell you the LG often annoyed me, it seemed to have a grain to the picture, it was very very sharp but it was annoying and the Sony never annoys me except for the banding . Banding is only a panel lottery but still Love Sony. LG C8 was better with HDR.

    Glad to hear that.

Hoping this will end your misery, and God forbid, if this develops a fault, kindly do not start a new thread. :)

With the lack of new post on this site why people get upset over post they might not like, is beyond me. Thanks for your good wishes.

040DE213-2CE9-4008-BF6D-FFCDEC3B9E4A.jpeg I received a replacement from Sony with a July 2018 build date end the HDR is horrible on this set. I cannot even tell if it is HDR. Wish I would have went with the Z9. The entire picture on night scenes is so dark it’s unwatchable, no way any director intended this. The set also has a large band near center but doubt it would show in content very often. What’s up Sony? Why can’t you use the new better panels on July built sets? They continue to sell displays with bad banding.

Losing my love for Sony and OLED.

I believe the HDR was ok yesterday but I was offered a software update this morning with destroyed it. Be careful if you accept a software update.
