When I was using my old 28'' CRT, It had 3 Scart connections on the rear and also phono connectors for AV out (I dont know the actual name for them)

Everything was fine. I could switch from NTL to DVD to VHS to Games console withOUT having to mess with wires at the back.

I now have a PW5 with the RGB/Component board. Im keep having to mess around with wires at the back.

Can someone tell me if there is a way to have everything simultanoiusly connected?

Will these £60 Vivanco/Hitachi (argos) splitter boxes work? Has anyone tried them? Or if not, please suggest how I can connect everything at the same time.

Someone has told me I have to buy a VGA to Scart converter and use the PC input for the VHS???

    :lease:

Hi m8, it would help if you listed the items you have and model numbers etc, if they have scarts only or component leads aswell.

    cheers

Just about to reply HD, lol, but on the 1st post you say it is a component board then you say its a Composite board, which is really the lowest of low and you want to stay away from that if poss.

the 5 series video board is basically the same as the "dual slot" for 6 and 7 series screens ie RGBHV/Component shared and S-video/composite shared so can only use S-video or composite and Compaonent (not 100% whether RGBHV was included or not....)

    Thanks you guys.

The board I have has RED WHITE AND YELLOW (is this called AV?) and S-Video.
(They cannot be both plugged in at the same time)

Then it has 5 other phono type connections labeled "Component/RGB" (VD, HD etc...)

I have no speakers connected to my pw5 as I use the surround speakers to watch the TV.

How many items can be connected to the JS converter? Would I be able to connect phono cables from the JS to the DVD, if it was connected to my STB..
In other words, can the audio out be routed to the DVD instead of the TV?

OK board is as i thought same as dual slot 6 and 7 series. JS RGB>VGA has on scart input and 1 VGA output as well as stereo audio out, it has only one scart but if you connect DVD>STB>JS it should work fine (may need a scart switcher ala JS MSC £50 or £10 for a manual one in argos.) so scart into JS VGA to screen audio to DVD

Will the quality of the DVD be reduced if its running through the STB.

What will the scart switcher be connected to?

Im not retarded I swear, I'm just confused.

Ive checked the site you posted BTW and they have the cable you were refering to, allthough it isnt in stock.

Are you definatly sure I will be able to run phono cables from the JS RGB>VGA to the Audio In on my DVD player?

Also, where is the best place to get the JS RGB to VGA box from?

Thanks HornyDragon, you really cleared this up for me.

If you cant send the audio from the JS box to the Audio in on DVD player (must have audio in!) I will eat my hat...........
JS sell direct, AV sales sell them, as do loads of places..........

    Great Stuff!

My VHS does NOT have a S-Video out.... Can I use a scart to S-video cable?
Or should I use a scart to red/white/yellow cable?

Its defo an S-VHS deck, but with NO S-Video out just 2 scarts.

Will a monster scart to svideo cable work? I think they are about £14.99 from currys.
