connections help with sony TV 40x2000

Just taken delivery yesterday of new tv sony kdl40x2000 with dvd recorder
rdr hxd870.
I need advice on how to best cable connect equipment to achieve maximum
performance

Equipment list

Sony tv kdl 40x2000
Sony dvd recorder rdr hxd870
arcam dvd 88+ (connected with qed squart av2110)
telewest pace box(connected with telewest squart)
cambridge audio azur 540rv2 surround amp

Also any recommedations on brands of cables would be appreciated(1m lengths)

I'm not sure what outputs the Arcam has but if it has component you might be better off using that although there's not much difference between RGB SCART and component (YpBpR). Check out profigold for your cables as they're good value. For HDMI, I recently bought 1.3 compatible ones from MarkGrant. For SCART take a look at THOR or Vivanco Prowire as they're not dear. For optical, don't spend much, £5 tops should do it. I got one from amazon for £3 or something and it works a treat!!! Profigold do digi-coax cables at around £10 and they're fine. There are a few powerbuys (see top of page) with links to good quality cables.
