Apologies (sure i've seen it mentioned a few times before  )

I'm about to pick up a new DVD player and i'm going to get one with SACD.

    I have a Yamaha DSP-A5 Multi Channel DD/DTS Amp.

What connections do I need on this in order to receive the full benefit of SACD :lease:

    TIA

    Hi :hiya: ,

for this amp you'll need six analogue RCA type cables to hear SACD, whichever DVD/SACD player you buy. Some more recent amps will receive the SACD signal by firewire, but if you're not planning on changing amps then this will not be available to you.

    OK Juniper, thanks.

Now home and had a look at the back of my Amp.

Have 6 connections marked "External Decoder Input" terminals.

    2 x Main, 2 x Rear, 1 x Centre and 1 x Sub.

Assuming that i'll connect 6 x cables from the SACD/DVD Player into these then the sound will be carried from the Amp to my 5.0/1 Speaker setup.

Hi again, and sorry for the delay in coming back to you. Yes -that'll be correct, and you'll (obviously :) ) need to select "Ext In" or whatever it is labelled in order to hear the output itself. Let us know how you get on!
