Hi All,

So I'm (yet) another confused newcomer. Please please can someone offer up some advice?
Have decided on getting a PW7 (37"). I'm excited. All good so far.
BUT: I can't figure out (at all) what is the best way of connecting up the screen. And I need to decide so I get get the right boards/leads/boxe when I buy the plasma.

So....I'm running digital TV from Homechoice. The STB has 2 scarts on the back, 1 for TV, other for DVD/VCR.

I have a Yamaha AVX-S80 home theatre sound system.

I realise the PW7 is a straight monitor. Therefore I need to split the audio and video signals coming from the Homechoice box, so that I can get some sound into the amp and listen to the (broadcast) tv.

How do I do this?

And then what sort of video signal should I be inputting into the PW7 for best PQ from Homechoice ( who are shortly uprating to an mpeg4 delivery). There seems mixed discussions between RGB>VGA and RGB>YUV+component board.

At this point I'm totally out of my depth. help help help pls. (mr hornydragon your ears should be burning).

And the DVD player has a scart output. Should I go directly scart to scart on the plasma...or am I back in JS box world again ( or can these magic boxes take a selection of scart inputs and still out put the audio seperately so I can get that into the amp?).

Cheers for any thoughts and suggestions and patience for beginners,

I just bought my 37" pw7 a few weeks back and like you was confused about connections . I followed advice and bought the JS rgb-vga box for starters, then finished with a Quintro scart controller .Picture quality is great and am well satisfied with my setup. My initial worries were how to connect all my devices, I have 5 ....hummy 5400, hummy f1-VACI ,Pioneer Freeview [*n-digi],Philips DVD recoder & Sony VCR. I even resorted to buying a extra scart terminal board for picture in picture . It took a bit of sorting but it's all worth it.
