Can anyone advise on the best cabling configuration for the following items to panny 6.

    Yamaha RX-V1400
    Panasonic E50 DVD recorder
    Standard Sky digital
    Sony VHS recorder
    Playstation 2
    B&W VM1's

Not got all the kit yet, but just trying to consider the cabling required.

    Thanks

If you want to get the very best picture quality from each component, the I would order the P6 with the Component/S-Video/Composite board (filling 2 slots) and the RGB scart board (filling the final slot) and use the following connections:

    Standard Sky digital
(I'd advise upgrading to the excellent Sky+ for £199 as this will give TOSlink connection to the amp and the recording system is a piece of cake to use)

    ---daisychain scart cable to---

    Panasonic E50 DVD recorder
    (connects to P6 via scart)

    Sony VHS recorder
    (connect via composite lead)

    Playstation 2
(buy the component lead and connect via that)

    Yamaha RX-V1400
Use 2phono to 2phono stereo cable from Sky box.
(Or optical TOSlink to TOSlink from Sky+ box)
Use 2phono to 2phono stereo cable from VCR.
Use co-ax digital 1phono to 1phono cable from DVD recorder
Use optical TOSlink to TOSlink cable from PlayStation

    B&W VM1's
(Errr, well just speaker cable! :D)

The alternative is to use the amp as a video switcher and buy just the component (1 slot) board for the P6. You'll then just need one component cable from the amp to the screen and when you switch the sound input on the amp, it'll also switch the picture at the same time!:

    Standard Sky digital
(Connect to DVD via scart for recording.
I'd advise upgrading to the excellent Sky+ for £199 as this will give both S-Video and TOSlink connections to the amp and the recording system is a piece of cake to use.)

    Panasonic E50 DVD recorder
    (connects to amp via s-video)

    Sony VHS recorder
(connect to amp via composite lead)

    Playstation 2
(buy the s-video cable and connect to the amp via that)

    Yamaha RX-V1400
Use 2phono to 2phono stereo cable from Sky box.
(or optical TOSlink to TOSlink from Sky+ box)
Use 2phono to 2phono stereo cable from VCR.
Use co-axial digital 1phono to 1phono cable from DVD recorder
Use optical TOSlink to TOSlink cable from PlayStation

One more thing - make sure you buy decent cabling!

Using cheapo or free crap cable will not give you the full performance of your new equipment.

For suggestions of cables , just reply!

    Hope that helps! :)

    Thanks for the info.

I would definately prefer directing everything through the amp i think.
