Equipment - Panasonic IDTV TX-26LXD52 with 3 scart AV1, AV2,and AV4.
AV1 and AV4 have RGB capabilities.

DVD Recorder Panasonic DMR-EH50 with 2 scarts AV1 and AV2 and In/Out RF

STB Maxim MX11-69 with 2 scarts VCR and TV with in/out RF sockets

I want to cable it up so that I can record from the STB while watching the IDTV

What is the best way to connect the scarts and RF cables to achieve this?

Much obliged if anyone can help out, I don't want to blow it all up.

My compliments on an exemplarary and clear posting.

First UHF Aerial daisychain:

Aerial to Maxim input.
Maxim Aerial output to EH50 Aerial input
EH50 Aerial Output to TV aerial Input.

Scarts:

Scart from Maxim TV outlet to AV2 of EH50.
Scart from AV1 [top scart] of EH50 to TV AV1.

Set the EH50 to output RGB on AV1.

This should permit you to do as you wish.

Please come back if you have further queries.

Thank You, I have connected as requested but when I go to setup the EH50 to output RGB I have the choice of AV1 Output which is set to RGB and AV2 Input which is set to RGB, I also have Ext Link which is set to external link 1.

I have switched on the TV / EH50 / Maxim, I cannot get any visual from the Maxim on the TV.

Latest Update
I have now tried AV4 on the TV and I have the Maxim Menu up - I'll check this out and see if I can record etc:

Hi Frank.. I think you posted just after I had realised my mistake and edit corrected my posting ... My apolgies for my silly mistake.

The RGB settings you mention are correct.

To see the maxim on your TV : Switch the TV to whatever input you would use to see the EH50 [ Presumably by selecting AV1 if that is what the EH50 is connected to on the TV]
Then on the EH50 select AV2 so that is it receiving the input coming from the Maxim.
It should then display satisfactorily.

There can be problems with some Panasonics not feeding through RGB when in the off position. Some will only feed through when AV2 is selected prior to switching off ... and some will not feed through at all when switched off.
You will just have to experiment to find out which implementation is used on this machine.

If it does not - it should not be a problem as you can use your integrated tuner for watching purposes. You only need the maxim for recording purposes , in which case it would be ON and WOULD pass-thro RGB.

All ok now, thank you for your excellent help, don't know how I would have sorted it otherwise. What I think confuses me is the Tv/Av on one remote, Av on another, when I found the little round button that says Input Select on the DVD remote after your instructions and selected AV4 it all works.

Thank You very much.

Make sure that you select q-link = av4 and av4 out = dvb from the tv setup menu. This allows direct tv record to work on dvd recorder.

On your dvd rec set av2 in = video when using a timed recording from stb, when doing a manual record set it back to rgb - you will find out why!!!
