just fired up the AE100 for the first time (jeez! i've had it 4 days) i used a new REOC A5 dvd with an s-video lead. god what a disappointment, the colour was washed out and outlines had a bright blue edge. changed to cheap comp video- Holy *@*@ what a picture. I'm confused to say the least, can anyone enlighten a PJ newcomer.

    :clown: :D

I assume when you wrote comp that you meant composite? What did you mean by "Holy *@*@ what a picture"? Did the picture improve or become even worse? :)

The picture, using the composite lead was superb. Unfortunatly neither of my dvd players (pioneer dv515 or REOC A5) have component outputs, so i thought s-video would be the better choice.
My teeth are getting cold 'cos i can't stop grinning.:p

Maybe you have a faulty s-video cable.

I'm glad you like it because I'm considering buying one now. :)

i used a temporary 5' cine screen out of the loft, placed about 10' from the pj. wound the picture as small as poss but it still filled the screen. i'm gonna go for the mdf/icestorm variant eventually set about 14' from the ceiling mounted pj. can't afford a real screen so we'll see how this goes.

i got the panny from MSV actually, went in one day they said some were due in. they phoned me the day after and i picked one up the day after that. they also matched the £1400 from AVLAND and gave me 12 months deferred credit (need to sell some shares doh!!)
couldn't see any dead pixels and the lamp usage indicated 0hours,
still worrying about the install though. where do you start?
i phoned about for a ceiling bracket but can't get one.
Sevenoaks more or less said 'never heard of it....bye!'
MSV said it was too new and no details of brackets had come through
