Question Connection confusion

Active Member
Having decided to buy a new tv, thoughts now turn to a soundbar/speaker option as my current set up through stereo amp to bookshelf speakers struggles a bit with speech and vocals. I will be using soundbar for purely tv viewing. Just wondering why there are so many different inputs on these soundbars when isnt it just easier to have one cable connection from the tv itself, most tvs have digital sound processors dont they?

Using an HDMI connection to a sound bar from a TV means that the sound bar takes care of the processing. The TV just presents a raw digital stream. You may well be disappointed if you try a sound bar in place of your current setup. I would audition some sound bars before flexing the plastic. You might find it more cost effective to replace your current speakers, for example.
