Hi im realy new to home cinema so i dont know all the ins and outs.Im realy confused about connecting my x-box to my s-master
AV 5.1ch Digital Amplifier.Iv heard about the Xbox Advanced AV Pack but dont know if i need it , i can plug the 3 cables (video in,l-audio,r-Audio) in to the back of the av.Can i get better quality with it? My AV has also got just an optical in slot (heard that you need optical in and out).Hope this makes sense

You need the advanced kit (optical out) to benefit from the xbox's Dolby Digital 5.1 output.

Comet do one (Gamestar IIRC) for £9.99 which includes a pretty decent optical cale. It also supports RGB so you'll get far better pictures on your TV.

BTW, welcome to the forums :)

As Kramer says, buy an Advanced AV SCART kit (either the Gamestar one, or the Joytech one, which is £15 - don't bother with the Official MS one as it's £20 and doesn't include the optical lead). Your AV amp is fine with just an optical input. Simply plug the Advanced AV kit into the xbox, plug the optical lead into that and your AV amp, and the SCART end into an RGB SCART socket on your TV.

    Cheers,
    Liam

The Joytech one certainly is good value as it includes both RGB scart and s-video connections on the same cable aswell as the optical cable. However having recently tested both i can say the official advanced RGB scart cable certainly gives the better picture(or it does on my 42inch plasma)
Don't worry about optical cables as they are the same connection either way(input-output) also remember to enable Dolby Digital/DTS in the xbox dashboard :smashin:
