I am considering adding a streamer to my system to replace a Squeezebox Touch and the rPlay seems to be one of the best for my budget.
I am aware that the rPlay can be linked to an external DAC and at the moment I have my Squeezebox connected to an irDAC.
Would connecting an rPlay to my irDAC improve the sound quality or would it be better to send it straight into my amp?
Thanks.

Maybe... perhaps ipeven probably: the ESS DAC chip in the irDAC would generally be considered superior to the TI DAC chip in the rPlay.

However there are many variables and being internal to the rPlay may give that the edge. There is also the question over how noticeable any improvement may be and that depends on the rest of your equipment and your ears!

As you already have the irDAC then trying both - rPlay direct to your amplifier and via irDAC - would be the ideal solution

Thanks sounddog for your help.
I will almost certainly be buying the rPlay in the next couple of weeks and will then do some testing.
I'll post the results for anyone interested.
