Hi, I'm getting Sky+ in the next few days and was wondering the best way to hook it up to my DMRE20. I understand it has an S-Video socket at the back so was thinking of purchasing a QED AV17 (2 Phono + 1 S-Video to SQART (in)) as this would enable me to hook it up without purchasing a RGB to S-Video device. Does anyone else have it setup this way and, if so, is the picture quality acceptable or would Scart to Scart (via a converter) give a better picture? Thanks
I would have thought that you would scart to scart from sky+ to the back of tv rgb socket then if your amp takes a TOSlink (optical) use that as sky+ does optical out. James
Because I want to record from it and my DMRE20 only accepts S-Video which means I would need a RGB to S-Video converter. As far as I understand it this would not make the picture any better than using the original S-Video socket.
Use the second scart on the sky+ box and send that to DMRE20 use a scart to S-video lead or S-video to S-video lead as the sky+ does a separate S-video out. James
Well, if its an s-vhs recorder you are connecting it to, then yes, use the s-video output. You didn't mention that in your first post and i didn't have a clue what the model number was for.
Rasczak The Sky+ has a separate S-Video out Din socket. you don't need a converter. I don't think using the second scart on the sky+ box with a scart to S-video lead would work. The scart does composite and RGB only AFAIK. DaveP
