Connecting ps3 to a hdmi capable av reciever.

Hi to all

just wondering if anyone can help,if i connect my ps3 to a lpcm capable av reciever via the hdmi will i get the dolby true hd sound and dts master audio,would it be the same as a blu ray player using a bitstream signal.

Yes you will get HD audio by connecting as you say.
Whether it sounds the same a bitstream is another matter. Some will say it makes no difference but I feel it will make some difference depending on the reciever you have. Although in theory all recievers should decode the signal the same some do a better job of steering the sound etc. If the signal is already decoded then the reciever can not do this. Now the PS3 may decode better than a cheaper amp so you may be a better sound but then again you may not. My personal preference would be to let the reciever decode if at all possible.
