    Hello all,

    Can anyone assist.....

I am looking to connect a PAL Xbox to a Sony HS50 projector. It is currently connected via composite.

I was thinking of using one of these boxes which has amongst other things component out and optical out.

    connected via this cable

    My questions are
    1) has anyone used one of these boxes and are they any good? and
    2) Is a 10 meter component cable too long (I was under the impression that quality is lost on long runs)
    3) Has anyone tried this particular brand of cable and is it any good?

    Thanks.

I have no experience of those manufacturers. £13.95 is cheap for a 10mtr component lead. I would expect them to cost £60 ish. Will probably do the job though. As for the 'box' , again looks quite cheap depends on how fussy you are. I have had a 10mtr component lead for a while, cost £70+ and have had no problems at all with image. If you were to softmod the Xbox(loads of threads on this) you could also output 480p or 720p via component(software dependant)

Do not bother getting that Hidef pack, the quality will be rubbish compared to the MS one. You can order it from www.lik-sang.com - costs a little more but picture much better. Also www.tvcables.co.uk is the place to buy cables, superb cables at superb prices!

Hi Matt, thanks for your response.
You're absolutely right they are cheap, hence the questions, to see if anyone else had tried them. As for soft modding, had a quick google, it seems that it does still require the opening of the xbox, which I'm rather reticent to do. I'm not much of a techie!

    Cheers lyrics.
Already had a look at lik-sang, the hidef pack you refer to doesn't appear to be PAL compatible, unless I'm looking at the wrong one, which is entirely possible! Nice one on the tv cables link, they have the same cable, only cheaper still
